Overdose Prevention and Intervention Toolkit (OPIT) aims to reduce the risk of opioid related overdose deaths through education, awareness, self assessment, & resources. OPIT provides a self assessment tool for those struggling with opioid use to gain awareness about the risks associated with the use of opioids.
The app also provides education and myth busters around opioid use and Opioid Use Disorder. There is information about Naloxone, including how to use it and how to obtain the life-saving medication. Other useful components of the app include:
- How to recognize and respond to an overdose
- The ability to connect directly with a crisis hotline
- How to access important resources for opioid users and their loved ones
OPIT was developed by the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center located in Howard County, Maryland in partnership with NextLOGiK. Grassroots provides supportive and professional 24-hour crisis intervention, suicide prevention, shelter, and outreach services to individuals and families experiencing a personal, situational, mental health, or shelter crisis.
